Mobile app design by Softlance

Mobile design is not a website squeezed narrower. Thumb reach, one-handed use, platform navigation conventions, gesture affordances and what happens on a bad connection all shape the layout — and iOS and Android disagree about several of them on purpose.

We design against real content and real states, prototype the flows that matter, and put them in front of people before a line of code is written. It is dramatically cheaper to find out an onboarding step confuses users in a prototype than in a store review.

Accessibility is designed in: tap targets that clear the minimum, contrast that survives outdoors, Dynamic Type that does not break the layout at large sizes, and screen-reader labels specified rather than left to the developer to invent.

What you get

Interactive prototype

Clickable flows in Figma, testable with real users before development starts.

Platform-correct patterns

iOS and Android variants where the platforms genuinely differ, so the app feels native on both rather than foreign on one.

Full state coverage

Empty, loading, error, offline, permission-denied and long-content states designed, not discovered in QA.

Store assets

Icon, screenshots and listing artwork sized for every device class both stores require.

Tools we use for mobile app design

Chosen per project — this is the set we reach for most often.

  • Figma
  • Framer
  • React Native
  • Reanimated
  • SF Symbols
  • Material Design 3

Mobile Design — frequently asked questions

Do you design for iOS and Android separately?

One design system, with platform variants where it matters — navigation patterns, system controls, typography and back-gesture behaviour. Everything else stays shared so the product has one identity.

Can you design an app we will build ourselves?

Yes. You get the Figma file, the design tokens and a specification your developers can build from, and we stay available for questions during implementation.

Do you do user testing?

We prototype and run moderated sessions when the budget allows, because five sessions on a prototype routinely change more than three months of opinions.

Do you design the App Store screenshots?

Yes — icon, screenshots and listing artwork at every required size. They are frequently the highest-leverage design work in the whole project, since most people decide from the screenshots.
