Website design by Softlance

We design websites that are built to do a job — get the enquiry, sell the product, make a complicated offer understandable — and we design them in the browser, not only in a static file. A layout that looks perfect at one artboard width and falls apart on a real phone has not been designed yet.

Work starts with the message rather than the moodboard: who lands here, what they need to know in the first five seconds, and what the one action is. Visual identity comes after that and serves it. The result is a site that reads as deliberate rather than decorated.

Because the same team builds it, what you approve is what ships. There is no gap between an idealised design and what a developer could actually make work.

What you get

Design system, not just pages

Type scale, colour tokens, spacing and components — so the pages you add next year still look like the same website.

Responsive at real breakpoints

Designed and reviewed on phone, tablet and desktop, including the states designs usually skip: empty, loading, error, long text.

Copy structure

Heading hierarchy and section flow shaped for how people scan and how search engines parse — not lorem ipsum poured into boxes.

Built and deployed

Delivered as a live, fast, accessible site, with a CMS if your team needs to edit it.

Tools we use for website design

Chosen per project — this is the set we reach for most often.

  • Figma
  • Next.js
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Framer Motion
  • Sanity
  • Contentful
  • Vercel

Website Design — frequently asked questions

How much does a website design cost?

A focused marketing site is a fixed-price project quoted after a short discovery call. Scope is driven by page count, whether you need a CMS, and how much of the copy and photography exists already — we quote those as separate lines so you can see what each one costs.

Do you write the copy?

We structure it and will draft it where that speeds things up, but the strongest sites come from your knowledge of the customer plus our structure. If you want it fully written we scope that in explicitly.

Can you redesign our existing site without losing our Google rankings?

Yes, and it needs planning. We map current URLs, keep or redirect every ranking page, preserve heading structure and metadata, and monitor Search Console after launch. Redesigns lose rankings when redirects are an afterthought.

Do we get the design files?

Yes — the Figma file and the code, both yours.
